New Century Resources Appoints General Counsel & Company Secretary

Foley Durham has recently partnered with the Patrick Walta, Managing Director of New Century Resources (ASX:NCZ) to appoint a General Counsel & Company Secretary.


Congratulations to Mr Tom Wilcox, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and holds a Master of Laws, from The University of Melbourne, where he also completed his Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce.


Having started his legal career at Middletons (now K&L Gates) in 2003 as a member of the firm's Capital Markets / M&A practice group, before moving to Baker & McKenzie in 2007 and ultimately starting his mining and resources focus with Rio Tinto Group from 2009-2017 across multiple roles, jurisdictions and commodities (including exploration) and six years in private practice, most recently leading a multidisciplinary team at Newcrest Mining, focusing on the Group’s key global growth opportunity, the Havieron gold / copper project in Western Australia.


Over his almost 20 years as legal counsel, Tom has honed his areas of expertise, including M&A, joint ventures, corporate governance, environmental and social governance, sales and marketing, business integrity, risk management, compliance, regulatory investigations (including OH&S), financing transactions and dispute resolution.


Tom is an accomplished legal and corporate governance executive with significant Australian and international experience in the resources sector. A results driven, commercially minded problem solver with a proven track record in ASX listed metals and mining companies.


Congratulations again to Tom who will be overseeing

an expanded legal, corporate governance, risk and compliance function,

following the successful implementation of the company’s growth plans.

New Century Resources (ASX:NCZ) is an Australian base metal producer operating the Century Mine in Queensland with the aim of becoming one of the world’s top 10 zinc producers.


New Century acquired the Century Mine when it ceased production in 2016 and has executed an economic rehabilitation plan comprised of upgrading the mine’s existing world-class infrastructure. This rehabilitation was completed in August 2018 when the mine successfully entered production.


New Century Resources is initially focusing on the existing ore reserves to produce zinc in the lowest cost quartile globally.
